10-Year RI For Outraging Modesty Of Minor In Odisha’s Jeypore
Jeypore: Special Fast Track judge Pradip Kumar Sasmal on Friday awarded rigorous imprisonment of 10 years to accused Jaga Bisoyi (26) and fined Rs 10,000 in a case of sexual harassment under POCSO Act 2012.
The judge imposed an additional imprisonment of one year provided the accused failed to pay the penalty. According to the prosecution, Bisoyi, a resident of Basniguda under Boipariguda police station limits immobilised a minor girl of Kotpad by offering a spiked apple to eat before outraging her modesty on August 21, 2015. Her family members complained to police after the incident. He was arrested and forwarded to the court.
The judge passed the verdict on the basis of statements of 14 witnesses. Special public prosecutor Sudhir Tripathy conducted the proceedings.
