Bhubaneswar: Around 100 students from across Odisha showcased their projects at the State Youth Science Festival was held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The festival was organised by the Department of Science and Technology to generate interest in science among the students.
Total 58 projects including 39 from senior level and 19 from junior level were on display at the festival. Nearly 100 students from 20 districts of the state participated in it and presented their projects.
Krishna Chandra Patra, Minister of Science & Technology and Chithra Arumugam, Principal Secretary of the Department went around the festival.
Certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winners in both senior and junior levels on the occasion. In the senior category, Subhasis Prusty of Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar secured first position, Rakshit Kumar Mohanty of OUTR second and Siddhi Mohan Pattnaik of Utkal University third position.
In the junior category, Ayusman Choudhary of Ramanguda Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Rayagada bagged the first position, Jyoti Ranjan Barik of Mayurbhanj’s Ranibhol Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya stood second and Shreyan Dash of Pokhariput DAV Public School secured third position.
Additional Secretary Sibani Mohanty delivered the welcome address while Prof Bibhuti Bhushan Mishra, president, Odisha Bigyan Academy proposed the vote of thanks.
