100-Year-Old UK Military Man Becomes Internet Sensation; Wishes To Visit India Post COVID Lockdown

London: A 100-year-old man in UK who had served as an engineer during the World War II in India wishes to re-visit India post the lockdown period.

The man celebrated his 100th birthday last month and recently became an overnight sensation after raising about 33 million pounds during the coronavirus fundraising drive.

He raised the money by doing 100 laps in his garden. About 1,50,000 people sent him birthday cards on April 30 besides, a Royal Air Force fly-post for his gesture.

“I would like to go back to India again and Barbados I think, and maybe the Continent,” Moore told The Times.

Moore was deputed in India in 1940 amid World War II, and then worked as an instructor at the Armoured Fighting Vehicle School. He rose to managerial director post of a concrete company, after the war.

Moreover, his organization captaintom.org is committed to tackling issues such as loneliness and raising funds for healthcare facilities. He was recently awarded Freedom of the City of London award and became the oldest person ever to achieve a UK No. 1 single.
