Bhubaneswar: As dense fog enveloped several parts of Odisha amid gradual rise in night temperature, the mercury stood below 12 degree Celsius in at least 11 places in the state in the last 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre said on Thursday.
Koraput turned out to be the coldest place in the state during the period recording a minimum temperature of 7.1 degree Celsius. The mercury stood at 10 degree Celsius and below in at least five places in the state, it said.
Koraput was followed by Semiliguda in the district at 8.3 degree Celsius, G Udaygiri in Kandhamal district at 9 degree, Daringbani also in Kandhamal at 9.5 degree Celsius, Kirei in Sundargarh district at 10 degree, Boudh at 10.8 degree, Phulbani at 11 degree Celsius, Keonjhar at 11.2 degree, Nabarangpur at 11.5 degree and SUndargarh & Bhawanipatna at 11.8 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 17 and 16.2 degree Celsius respectively, which was almost 3 degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, ‘very dense’ fog was experienced in the steel city of Rourkela on Thursday morning.
Similarly, Phulbani, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Koraput experienced dense fog this morning. Shallow to moderate fog was also seen at Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Paradip, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Chandbali and Sambalpur.
The Met office has issued yellow warning of dense fog for one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput and Rayagada districts till Friday morning.
