12-hour bandh stalls life at Joda
Joda: Normal life was thrown out of gear at Joda in Keonjhar district on Thursday owing to a dawn-to-dusk bandh called by Joda Development Council to push for their three-point charter of demands.
Most business establishments, markets, shops and educational institutions remained shut, while vehicles stayed off the road during the strike.
The protestors picketed at various places, besides staging road blockades at major intersections by burning tyres.
“The district administration should take proactive steps to construct a bypass road between Rasasala and Bansapani for the convenience of commuters. Apart from that, a bus stand should be set up at Kamarajoda and a daily market at Joda,” an agitator said.
