Pune: Amid an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases, the authorities in Pune have decided to impose a 12-hour night curfew (6 pm to 6 am) in the district from April 3, the ANI reported.
Religious places, shopping malls, movie theatres, bars, hotels and restaurants will remain closed for seven days and only home delivery of food, medicines and other essential services will be allowed during this period, Pune Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said Friday afternoon.
No public function, except funerals and weddings, will be allowed. While the ceiling for a funeral is 20 people, that for a wedding is 50.
The situation will be reviewed next Friday, he added.
Pune has been reporting over 8,000 new cases for the last two days.
On Wednesday, the district reported the biggest single-day spike of 8,605 new cases since the pandemic last year.
A state-wide night curfew is in force from 8 pm to 7 am along with other stringent measures.
