Bhubaneswar: A health camp was organized by Golden 40 Foundation Trust and Snehalata Charitable Trust at Khairapada village in Barang, about 12 km from here, on Sunday. A team of 8 doctors treated patients from Khairapada, Khuntuni, Balipada, Gandarpur and nearby villages.
Ophthalmologist Dr B N R Subudhi, Dentist Dr Venkat N C Kota, Surgeons Dr Chandra Sekhar Dash and Dr Prasanna Kar and Gynaecologist Dr Uday Narayan Mishra along with their team were present.
Speaking to Odisha Bytes, retired RBI officer and member of Golden 40 Foundation Trust Pratap Kumar Mohapatra said, “We have a team of 7-8 doctors. We have done 12 such camps where we try to provide them free treatment. We also create health awareness and help villagers find self-employment opportunities.”
The trust, funded with donations from friends living in India and abroad, plans to set up a cataract surgery camp. Government restriction on camps is a concern for them, he added.
President of Snehalata Charitable Trust Umasankar Misra said, “More than 120 patients attended the camp and got free medicines. This is the third such camp organized jointly by the two organizations. We plan to do such camps every 3 months.”
Laxmidhara Patra (75) of Balipada village was very happy with the team of doctors and said they did a very detailed examination. His grandson Santosh Patra pointed out that since the nearest government hospital is 20 km away, they would be more grateful if operations could be arranged in their village.
