Bhubaneswar: With entire Odisha experiencing rainfall activities due to a low pressure, as many as 13 districts received more than ‘excess’ rainfall in the last 24 hours.
The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its realised weather bulletin, mentioned that Udala in Mayurbhanj received highest 73.2 mm rainfall during the period. It was followed by Kaptipada in the same district with 68 mm rain, Hindol in Dhenkanal district and Jagannath Prasad in Ganjam with 65 mm and Hatadihi in Keonjhar with 62.2 mm.
While 13 districts received ‘large excess’ (60% or more) rainfall, 3 districts had ‘large deficient’ (less than 60%) rainfall during the period. The actual cumulative rainfall in the state was 14.6 mm rainfall.
According to the IMD, a low pressure area has formed over Odisha and its neighbourhood under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts.
