Bhubaneswar: Notwithstanding norwester activities reported from several areas in the state, as many as 13 places recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Thursday.
According to evening bulletin of India Meteorological Department (IMD), 5 places reported maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more. Sonepur and Boudh were hottest places in the state recording 43 degree on the day.
The two western Odisha towns were followed by Balangir with 42.5 degree, Titlagarh 42.2, Jharsuguda 42, Sambalpur and Deogarh 41.2, Phulbani 40.7, Hirakud 40.6, Bhawanipatna 40.5, Nuapada and Nayagarh 40.5 and Parlakhemundi 40 degree Celsius.
Twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 36.2 degree Celsius while Puri reported lowest temperature in the state with 31.5 degree, the IMD bulletin stated.
The Met office has forecast no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at most places in the state during next 4 to 5 days. But it has issued yellow warning for several areas which are likely to experience thunderstorm for next three days.
