Rourkela: In a major crackdown during Janmashtami festivities, police arrested 14 people and seized huge amounts of cash and valuables during raids on a gambling den near a village fair behind Dharuadihi police station in Odisha’s Sundargarh district late last night.
The seizure included 20 cars, 17 motorcycles, 20 mobile phones, and Rs 1,01,340 in cash. The ownership of the seized vehicles are being verified.

According to sources, gambling is held during Jhulan Jatra organised in the village as part of Janmashtami celebrations and draws hordes of people. Further investigation is underway and efforts are on to nab others involved in such illegal activities.
