Bhubaneswar: With a target to create 4.52 lakh employment opportunities, the state government has successfully established 1,43,012 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with an investment of Rs 8,075 crore, MSME minister Prafulla Samal said on Thursday.
Presenting his department’s three-year performance report card, the minister said, “To assist the intending entrepreneurs, an assistance of Rs 158 crore has been provided under Prime Minister’s Employment Guarantee Programme for setting up 7,572 micro enterprises, thereby creating jobs for 44,700 people.”
Samal said ‘Udyog Samadhan Sibir’ has been launched in six districts of Odisha to redress the grievances of entrepreneurs. “It will be extended to the remaining districts during the current financial year,” he said.
In addition, the total value of exports, which was Rs 19, 551 crore in 2014-15, has gone up to Rs 40, 879 crore provisionally during 2016-17, registering an increase of 109 per cent, he added.
