Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha climbed to 7,426 on Monday with 68 more deaths being confirmed in the past 24 hours.
The list of daily fatalities includes past deaths for which an audit was done and the cause identified as COVID, the Health Department said.
Odisha has so far seen 1,524 deaths due to the disease this month.
While 660 deaths were reported in May, the number swelled to 1,272 in June and it rose further to 1,884 in July.
Among the COVID deaths confirmed in the last 24 hours is a 15-year-old girl of Balasore district. With this, the number of children and adolescents who lost their lives to COVID during the second wave in the state has gone up to 29.
The deaths of a 16-year-old girl from Angul, a 16-year-old girl from Cuttack, a 13-year-old boy, a month-old baby girl and a nine-year-old boy due to the deadly disease were reported on Sunday, Saturday, Friday, Thursday and Tuesday respectively.
Among the fresh fatalities, the highest of 17 are from Cuttack, followed by 15 from Jagatsinghpur, 9 from Dhenkanal, 8 from Khurda (7 from Bhubaneswar), 6 from Jajpur, 4 from Kendrapada, 3 from Balasore, 2 from Puri, 1 each from Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Rayagada and Jharsuguda.
The deceased have been identified as:
1.A 73 years old of Male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Hypertension & Cerebro Vascular Accident.
2.A 65 years old of Female of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Cerebro Vascular Accident.
3.A 15 years old of Female of Balasore District who was also suffering from Sjogren’s Syndrome, Right Side Gluteal Abscess.
4.A 72 years old of Male of Bhadrak District who was also suffering from Hypertension.
5.A 57 years old of Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Dilated Cardiomyopathy with Complete Heart Block, Diabetes Mellitus.
6.A 85 years old of Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
7.A 82 years old of Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Hypertension.
8.A 76 years old of Male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Cerebro Vascular Accident, Diabetes Mellitus & Hypertension.
9.A 29 years old of Female of Bhubaneswar.
