Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw another spike of 163 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which took the total to 1991 on Sunday.
Among them, 104 are quarantine and 59 local contact cases.
Of the quarantine cases, 98 are contacts of previous patients, five have travel history to West Bengal (2), Hyderabad (1) and Mumbai (2) and the remaining one is a central government employee. While 13 cases have been detected in Trinatha Nagar Basti, 11 are from Pandara, nine from Dumduma, eight from Kharvel Nagar, seven from Unit IV near the fish market and five from Akhandalamani Basti in Unit I. Total 19 cases have been reported from city slums.
Among the local contact cases, four have been detected from Akhandalamani Basti and one from Trinath Nagar Basti. Seven of them are from Bharatpur.
“Further contact tracing is still on. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised and these will be under active surveillance,” the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation tweeted.
On the other hand, 46 more patients have been cured of the infection.
With 11 deaths and 909 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 1069 active cases.
