Cuttack: Three members of a family, including a minor, were critically injured in an explosion in a cracker manufacturing unit at Baneswarpada village under Tigiria block in Cuttack district on Wednesday.
The injured, including a one-and-half year-old child, have been admitted to Cuttack SCB Medical and Hospital.
The mishap occurred even as Commissionerate Police is carrying out raids against unlicensed manufacturers and sellers of fire crackers in the district.
The Orissa High Court has given a go-ahead for use and sale of green firecrackers this Diwali following the Odisha government’s agreement over the issue.
As per the guidelines issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) only crackers having license from the PESO are allowed to be used for just two hours, between 8 pm and 10 pm, on Diwali which will be celebrated on November 4.
