Malkangiri: Malkangiri district reported 18 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday, the district administration informed.
As informed by district collector Manish Agarwal, 10 cases were detected in Malkangiri municipality and six among them were found infected during intensive surveillance.
One patient was a close contact of the previously found positive case within the containment zone, while three were local cases with mild symptoms.
Four cases were identified in Balimela NAC and among them, two are Gujarat returnees and another two local cases with no travel history.
One case was reported from MV-15, Malkangiri block, and the patient had undergone treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
Another case was detected in Khairput. The patient is a close contact of a previous positive case.
Similarly, two cases were identified in Kalimela block. Of these, one is a frontline worker and Cuttack returnee and the other is a local case of MV – 75 with no travel history.
With these new cases, the COVID-19 tally in the district has gone up to 134. With 71 having recovered from the disease, the number of active cases is 63 active.
