Balangir: One Jagabandhu Meher was arrested by Balangir Town police after the cops seized 1800 bottles of cough syrup worth Rs 3 lakh.
Police have also confiscated a Maruti Dzire from the accused.
It was learnt that Meher has been selling cough syrup to local youths, who allegedly use this as an intoxicant. More than a dozen cases are pending against the accused person at various police stations in Balangir district, an official informed.
A case has been registered and Meher will be forwarded to the court, the official said, adding that the drive against smuggling of cough syrup will be intensified in the district.
