Rayagada: Police and Fire Service personnel on Monday started an operation to trace a 19-year old student, who went missing while taking a bath in the river at Siltiguda Dam in Odisha’s Rayagada district the previous evening.
The search operation began at around 6 am.
The youth has been identified as Chaitanya Kumar, a student of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Institute of Technology (UGMIT). He is a resident of Saipriya Nagar in Rayagada.
Rayagada Tehsildar Priyadrashini Swain told a presser that group of nine students had visited the dam on Sunday for a feast. “One of them went missing after he stepped into the waters. Rescue operation has started. ODRAF personnel will also be roped in,” she added.
