2 Al Qaeda Terrorists Arrested In India; Know What They Were Planning
Lucknow: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in UP arrested two terrorists linked to Al Qaeda from the outskirts of Lucknow on Sunday.
The duo was reportedly hiding in a house in the Dubagga area of Kakori.
Following an intelligence input, a team led by ATS Inspector General GK Goswami conducted a raid and arrested the terrorists from a house that belongs to one Shahid.
Names of the terrorists were not disclosed. Goswami said that more details will be disclosed after further interrogation.
Having received a tip-off about their presence some time ago, the ATS team had been doing its homework and tracking them for about a week.
Two pressure cooker bombs, a detonator and about 6 to 7 kg of explosives were recovered from the house, ANI quoted sources as saying.
The sources further said that preliminary inquiry has revealed that the terrorists had planned to target a BJP MP and some senior leaders of the party in Lucknow.
A large contingent of security forces and top officials from various agencies reached the spot immediately. Nearby houses were evacuated and the entire area was being searched for explosives by a bomb disposal squad.
