2 Arrested In Fake Currency Note Racket In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Police have arrested two persons on charge of circulating fake currency notes in the district.

According to sources, the police raided a ‘mela’ in Nerada panchayat under Bhandaripokhari block late Saturday night following intelligence reports about the three persons. They arrested Priya Ranjan Nayak and Bijay Kumar Das, who are relatives red handed from the ‘mela’.

Following search, police seized 51 pieces of Rs 100 note and 41 pieces of Rs 200 from their possession. Besides, a car, three vehicle number plates and three mobile phones were seized. They confessed to be procuring the fake notes from Anandpur in Keonjhar district.
The accused persons had called up a youth belonging to Basudevpur of the district and allured him of paying Rs 2 lakh in exchange of Rs 1 lakh cash. They told him to visit the fake currency manufacturing unit at Nalanga. The youth informed Basudevpur police in this regard.
