2 Buildings, 7 Plots In Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance Arrests Sub-Collector In DA Case
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Kamakhyanagar (Dhenkanal district) sub-collector Narayan Nayak, a Class-I officer, for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to an official release, Nayak was found in possession of 4 multi-storey building, 14 high value plots, bank, insurance & postal deposits amounting to Rs 34.57 lakh, Rs 1.48 lakh in cash and 366 gram of gold following the searches at multiple locations in Khurda, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj districts. Among these, an under-construction triple-storey building at Jharpada, a single-storey building at the same location & 7 plots are in Bhubaneswar.
The Vigilance also unearthed a three-storey building at Kuansa and a two-storey building at Gelpur, both in Bhadrak district. The remaining plots are in Bhadrak (6) and Puri’s Pipili (1). “The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to approximate Rs 1.4 crore. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard,” it said.
A two-wheeler and household articles worth around Rs 10 lakh were also detected.
The release further stated that the sub-collector could not account satisfactorily for these assets.
Nayak joined government service through OPSC-OSCS 1997. He served as Assistant Settlement Officer, Kalahhandi, and Additional Tehsildar, Bhawanipatna, from 1999 to 2004. He worked as the BDO at Khariar, Dasarathpur and Balianta block offices for about a decade (2014 to 2023). He has been posted as Kamakhyanagar sub-collector since 2023. He entered the OAS cadre in 2011, promoted to OAS (SB) cadre in 2021 and OAS (S) in 2023.
