2 Cops Suspended For ‘Lifting’ Money During Raid On Hotel
Bhubaneswar: Two police personnel have been suspended on Thursday in connection with the lifting of money during a raid on a hotel in Odisha capital.
The suspended cops are Havildar Dillip Mallick and Constable Sandeep Prusty, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash.
Another accused in the case, an SI has been removed from Special Squad and sent to Reserve Police, Cuttack, said Dash added.
The DCP said efforts are on to arrest three other absconding accused. A senior officer in the rank of Additional DCP will probe into the incident, the DCP aded.
On the seizure of the cash worth Rs 99.50 lakh, he said the Commissionerate Police has informed Enforcement Directorate to probe into the matter.
It may be mentioned here that the three cops were arrested by Air Field Police on Wednesday after they were allegedly caught ‘lifting’ lakhs of rupees from the cash seized during a raid on a hotel.
The accused were among 8 persons arrested who had tried to cheat a businessman of Rs 1 crore by luring him to invest in a foreign company, which promises hefty returns.
