Berhampur: Two days after a youth was allegedly kidnapped, he was found murdered in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday.
According to sources, the youth, Dipu Patra of K Kharida village under Kabisuryanagar police station in the district, was kidnapped while he was returning home from Kodala on Friday.
As he did not reach home, his family started searching for him and enquired their relatives and his friends. After failing to trace him, they filed a complaint at Kabisuryanagar police station. Later, Dipu’s younger brother received a video showing the kidnappers torturing him.
With the police failing to trace either Dipu or his kidnappers, the family took up the matter with Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meena and sought his intervention after showing him the video on Saturday. The SP formed a special team led by Purusottampur SDPO and Kodala IIC to rescue Dipu.
But Dipu’s body was found by the locals near a pond in Kodala on Sunday. His body bore several deep injury marks. Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
