Dallas, Texas: Two persons lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in two shootings on Tuesday morning perpetrated by a gunman, one of which occurred at a retail complex north of Dallas, according to officials.
Authorities identified the shooting suspect as 69-year-old Seung Han Ho, who was captured after a brief foot chase, police reported.
The violence erupted first at a Korean retail centre in Carrollton, roughly 20 miles north of Dallas, early on Tuesday morning, officials stated.
Officers arrived at K Towne Plaza just before 10 a.m. CT after shooting reports and discovered a male victim deceased at the site along with three injured individuals — two males and one female — suffering from gunshot injuries, according to a statement from Carrollton police.
During a Tuesday news briefing, Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo noted the incident unfolded amid a business discussion, as reported by ABC News.
As investigators probed the initial event, word came of another shooting in the 2700 block of Old Denton Road, a short distance away, right before 11:15 a.m., where authorities found a man dead within an apartment unit.
In that same briefing, Arredondo termed it a “complicated scene,” with personnel managing “multiple scenes” across K Towne Plaza and an adjacent retail area, known locally as Koreatown, where officers detained the suspect.
“Currently, there is no immediate threat to the public,” Arredondo said. “Victims were meeting with the suspect for a business purpose. This is not a random act of gunfire.”
The chief added that police continued investigating the professional ties between the suspect and the adult victims.
The police statement indicated the suspect “stated he was angry at het victims due to financial disagreements related to their business dealings.”
Police withheld additional information on the victims.
