Berhampur: Two persons reportedly died of drowning in flooded Badanadi river in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
As per reports, Mamata Sahu of Kulad village under Bhanjanagar police limits in the district had gone to take bath in the river, which is in spate, in the morning. While bathing, she was swept away by a strong current.
The villagers managed to rescue her in critical condition and rushed her to sub-divisional hospital in Bhanjanagar. But the dcotors in the hospital declared her dead on arrival.
In the second incident, Babula Mallick of Badangi village under Tarasingi police station in the district had gone missing in the river on Wednesday. The villagers recovered his body from the river on Thursday.
The police have registered unnatural death case in both incidents.
