2 Die, One Critical As Bike Falls Off 20-Ft High Bridge In Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Two persons died while another sustained critical injuries when the motorcycle, which they were riding, skidded and fell into Andarigada canal from a 20-ft high bridge in Nandapur block of Odisha’s Koraput district in the early hours of Thursday.

According to sources, the accident took place around 5 am when the trio, hailing from Sadam village in the district’s Pottangi block, was returning after attending Maha Shivratri festivities at Chatua village bordering Andhra Pradesh. The injured, identified as Tripati Khara, was rescued by passersby and rushed to Nandapur community health centre in an ambulance. He was later shifted to Saheed Laxman Naik, Medical College Hospital in Koraput for treatment.

However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

It is suspected that the bikers failed to negotiate sharp turns on the stretch, leading to the accident.

Meanwhile, police reached the spot and have begun an investigation.
