Balangir: In a tragic incident, two friends were killed when the bike they were riding dashed against a roadside tree at a village in Odisha’s Balangir district on Saturday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place near Kharlikani village on the Balangir-Titlagarh road late in the afternoon when the two were returning home from Balangir on a motorcycle.
The deceased persons have been identified as Om Mahaling and Niranjan Bhoi of Ratakhandi village in the district.
The bike rammed into a roadside tree apparently after the rider lost control over the vehicle.
Locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the victims but both the youths had reportedly died on the spot. They called the police and ambulance.
After getting information Balangir Sadar Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The bodies were seized and sent to hospital in an ambulance for autopsy.
