2 Jump Into Mahanadi River In Odisha’s Cuttack; Body Of 1 Fished Out, Another Still Missing

Cuttack: Two persons jumped into the Mahanadi River in Odisha’s Cuttack and the body of one was recovered by fire services personnel on Wednesday.

According to sources, fire services personnel recovered the body of a man from Jagatpur-Kendrapada canal in Cuttack in the morning. He had jumped into the Mahanadi River on Tuesday night.

Notably two persons jumped into the Mahanadi River on Tuesday. While one of them jumped from the Madhusudan Setu late on Tuesday, another had jumped into the river from Jobra Bridge on Tuesday morning.

The man who jumped into the river from Jobra bridge has been identified as Anup Agrawal (51), a resident of Nayasadak area in Cuttack. Police had earlier seized his scooter and sandals from the bridge.

Fire Services personnel recovered the body of Agarwal from the Jagatpur-Kendrapada canal Wednesday morning, while search operation is on to trace the other person.

The second person has been identified as Mrutyunjay Manik, a resident of the Mancheswar area of Bhubaneswar.
