Jeypore: Two persons died and 10 were injured when a vehicle, carrying Baraatis (groom’s wedding party), fell off Khatlaparar bridge under Kundra block in Odisha’s Koraput district on Sunday.
According to sources, the accident took place around noon when the driver of the pick-up van lost control over the wheels on the bridge while en route to Nuagaon under Borigumma block from Dhalpur under Boipariguda block with 20 people onboard.
On being informed, Fire Service personnel arrived at the spot and rescued the injured, who were then rushed to Community Health Centre at Kundra. Three among them were later shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput as their condition deteriorated.
While police have initiated a probe into the accident, it is being suspected that the driver was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
