Umarkote: Twenty persons were grievously injured as the pick-up van in which they were travelling overturned near Mahanda village in Odisha’s Nabarangpur on Sunday afternoon.
According to sources, the accident took place around 2 pm when 25 persons, including women and children, were en route to Mahanda village from Ekamba village under Jharigaon block to attend a ring ceremony.
The driver fled the spot soon after the vehicle overturned.
The injured persons were rescued by locals and rushed to community health centre (CHC) at Umarkote. Two among them were later shifted to district headquarters hospital at Nabarangpur as their condition deteriorated.
On being informed, Jharigaon police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the accident.
