Cuttack: Twenty of Cuttack city’s iconic eateries were honoured with heritage plaques by the Indian National Trust for Art & Heritage (INTACH). The ceremony was held recently at the Cuttack Tax Bar Association in Markatanagara, Cuttack.
This recognition by the Cuttack Chapter of INTACH follows a comprehensive survey conducted by Suman Prakash Swain, a life member of INTACH, who documented 45 historic eateries that play a significant role in the city’s rich culinary heritage. From this list, 20 food establishments were selected to receive the prestigious ‘Heritage Eateries of Cuttack’ award, INTACH said in a statement.
During the ceremony, Amiya Bhushan Tripathy, the State Convenor of INTACH, presented the plaques and commended the owners for their dedication to preserving the authenticity of these beloved eateries. He urged them to continue upholding the heritage and dignity of their establishments.
Gopal Krishna Behera, the Convenor, Cuttack Chapter, emphasized that this initiative is crucial for safeguarding the food culture of Cuttack, ensuring that the city’s rich culinary history is passed down to future generations.
Suman Prakash Swain provided an in-depth explanation of the project during his speech. The event was also graced by the speeches of Anil Dhir, Biswajit Mohanty, and Raja Parija, who all highlighted the cultural importance of the project.
