Berhampur: At least 20 persons were injured when a pick-up van carrying them overturned in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday evening.
According to sources, the victims, all belonging to Turubudi under Surangi police limits in the district, had gone in the van to have darshan at Bankeswari temple in the morning.
While they were returning in the evening, the van driver lost control over steering on Bankeswari Ghat road and the vehicle overturned on the roadside. The locals rushed to the spot to rescue the passengers and informed the police.
After some time, police along with Fire services personnel reached the accident site and sent the injured people to a hospital at Digapahandi. While 10 injured persons were discharged after first-aid, the rest 10 including a minor boy were undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The police have registered a case and seized the van that met the accident.
