Bhubaneswar: Income Tax Department seized 20 sacks of coins of different denominations near Vani Vihar and Baramunda Bus Stand here on Tuesday.
According to sources, the coin sacks were allegedly illegally being transported from Kolkata to Bhubaneswar in two buses.
Based on inputs, the IT officials conducted raids at Satsang Vihar and Baramunda Bus Stand here and seized the coins from two buses.
The drivers and helpers of the buses have been detained for interrogation.
People, involved in the illegal transportation, are yet to be identified and the exact amount of the seized coins is yet to be ascertained.
A team of Reserve Bank of India will soon arrive at the spot for investigation, the sources added.
