Burla (Odisha): The TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and Odisha government, brought rooftop solar assistance closer to communities across Western Odisha through its month-long participation in the Seva Setu Abhiyan which concluded on October 17.
A total of 44 camps were organised across seven districts, reaching out to over 2,000 consumers and facilitating resolution of more than 300 consumer grievances. The campaign also supported rooftop solar adoption, with around 1,400 applications registered and 200 installations commissioned during the initiative.
The one-month campaign covered Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagada, Sundaragada, Baragada, Balangir and Nuapada. Consumers received assistance on rooftop solar registrations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and the Utility Led Aggregation (ULA) model. Information on applicable central and state government subsidies, along with available bank financing options, was also provided to help households make informed decisions about solar adoption.
A mega Seva Setu camp in Sambalpur’s Rengali witnessed a large footfall, with Lok Sabha MP and former Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan attending the camp and encouraging residents to explore green energy solutions.
TPWODL teams provided on-the-spot assistance with rooftop solar registrations, explained applicable subsidy benefits and addressed consumer queries, helping residents better understand the process and benefits of adopting solar energy.
The Seva Setu Abhiyan was conducted at the block level, across urban and rural areas, as a single-window service initiative.
TPWODL has so far facilitated more than 73,000 rooftop solar installations, including 33,587 under the ULA model and 40,023 under the CAPEX model, reflecting the growing adoption of clean energy among consumers across Western Odisha. Last month, thousands of consumers across Western Odisha recorded zero-unit electricity bills, under the ULA model and CAPEX model.
