XIMB COVID Scare: Will Odisha Go For Lockdown Or Night Curfew?

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed a sudden spike in daily COVID-19 caseload on Monday with 146 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The state has been reporting around 100 cases for the last three days.

According to the I & PR department, Khurda recorded the highest of 35 fresh cases followed by Cuttack (25), and Mayurbhanj (13).

Among the new infections, 21 are from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, (XIMB), informed Director, Public Health, Niranjan Mishra.

Amid the COVID-19 resurgence scare, he told the media that the officials concerned have been asked to increase RT-PCR test, contact tracing and surveillance.

He said stress is being given to home isolation since most of the patients are asymptomatic.

Mishra further said that there will be strict enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines and people are being asked to adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour. “The state government will soon take a decision on either to impose lockdown or night curfew,” he added.

Around 40 cases were reported from educational institutions in Cuttack city last week, making it a matter of grave concern for the state.
