New Delhi: A total of 22 police officers and personnel from Odisha will receive police medals on the 79th Independence Day this year.
Two senior officers – ASP Rabindra Kumar Panda and Commandant Naresh Patel – have been selected for President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Eleven officers from the state will be conferred with Police Medal for Meritorious Service. The awardees are Assistant Inspector General Maheshwar Sethy; Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar Pradhan; Additional Superintendent of Police Debendra Narayan Dash; Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Kumar Rout; Inspector A Srinibas Dora; Deputy Superintendent of Police Hemamalni Nayak, Commandant Suryanarayan Mallick; Inspector Santosh Kumar Mirdha; Assistant Sub Inspector Arun Kumar Samanta; Assistant Sub Inspector Arabinda Das; and Constable Chinmayee Rout.
This apart, nine personnel will be awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry.

In Fire Services, 2 personnel from Odisha have been selected for Medal for Meritorious Service. Similarly, one personnel has been selected for President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and 3 for Medal for Meritorious Service in Home Guard and Civil Defence. In Correctional Service, one personnel won President’s Medal for Distinguished Service and 2 Medal for Meritorious Service.
