Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha Capital surged to 5707 on Tuesday with 220 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
Among them, 136 have been infected by previous patients and 84 are local contact while two have travel history.
While 15 cases have been reported from Gobinda Nagar Basti at Nayapalli, two each are from Phuleswari Basti at Khadagiri, Gudia Sahi at Rasulgarh, Jharana Sahi at Badagarh and one each from Ramani Sahi and Salia Sahi.
Eight from 7th Battalion, four policemen, three traffic staff, two government employees, as many of a private hospital and another Health Department staff have also been infected. Seven more cases have been reported from Reserve Police Colony.
Among local contact cases, three are from Vani Vihar and two from Saheed Nagar.
“Further contact tracing is on. Primary contacts and nearby houses are being quarantined, sanitised. These will be under active surveillance,” the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation informed.
On the other hand, 123 more patients have recovered from the infection. The city saw one more COVID-19 death in the last 24 hours.
With 28 deaths and 3690 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 1983 positive cases.
