24 Plots, 3 SUVs & Brick Unit: Odisha BDO With Over Rs 5 Crore Assets Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested Ashwini Das, BDO, Jaleswar, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his know sources of income.

During the raid at six places, over Rs 5.07 crore assets, including 24 plots at prime locations of Cuttack and Kendrapada having a market value of Rs 76 lakh, two palatial buildings each worth over Rs 1 crore, three SUVs, a hatchback car, three two-wheelers, over 1 kg gold and 3.632 silver ornaments, besides Rs 1.7 lakh, were unearthed, an official release said.

He also owned a brick factory. Since it is not operational, the Vigilance estimated the value of its equipment.

Raids were conducted at:

>> Triple-storey building at Kalapada, 42 Mouza, Cuttack district

>> Double-storey building at Jhinkiria, Berhampur, Cuttack district

>> Office room at Block Office, Jaleswar, Balasore

>> Govt residential quarter at Jaleswar, Balasore

>> Office room of his spouse at Govt. Press, Khapuria, Cuttack

>> House at native village-Bhuinpur, Aul, Kendrapada

Das joined as Junior Assistant in Agriculture Department in 1995. He was promoted to the ORS in 2015 and was posted as Additional Tehsildar, Kutra (Sundargarh), Additional Tahasildar, Niali (Cuttack), Sub-Registrar, Raghunathpur (Jagatsinghpur), Sub-Registrar, Dolipur (Jajpur) and Sub-Registrar, Jatani (Khurdha). He was promoted to OAS in 2020 and was posted as Tehsildar, Tangi, BDO, Kendrapada and BDO, Jaleswar (Balasore).
