Lucknow: At least 25 people are feared trapped under debris after an under-construction structure collapsed at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
Rescue personnel have so far managed to bring out 23 people of whom 3 are seriously injured.
“Work was going on for the new terminal at Kannauj railway station.. the under-construction structure collapsed today. Of the 23 people rescued, 20 received minor injuries, they are undergoing treatment. Three people are seriously injured and have been referred to Lucknow. Some more people are feared to be trapped. Rescue operation is going on,” said UP minister Asim Arun.

Police and a team from the State Disaster Response Force are trying to rescue the trapped workers.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to rush to the site and expedite relief efforts. He also asked the officials to ensure proper treatment for injured persons.
According to Northeast Railway CPRO Pankaj Kumar Singh, they received information about the mishap around 2.30 pm.
“A compensation of Rs 50,000 has been announced for the seriously injured and Rs 5,000 for those who have suffered minor injuries. Railway and state government teams are present at the spot. Relief and rescue work is going on,” said Singh.
