Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition continued unrelented across Odisha on Thursday when as many as 25 places recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree or more.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Boudh was the hottest place in the state with maximum temperature of 45 degree Celsius. This was the season’s highest maximum temperature so far.
As many as eight places recorded maximum temperature of 44 degree Celsius or above. Those are Balangir (44.5 degree), Deogarh (44.5), Jharsuguda (44.4), Angul (44.3), Titlagarh (44.2), Sambalpur (44) and Sonepur (44).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperature of 39.8 and 40 degree Celsius respectively. Gopalpur in Ganjam district recorded the lowest temperature at 31 degree Celsius.
The IMD has forecast that there will be no major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) during next 3 days
and slight decrease of about 2 degree Celsius in subsequent two days in the state. Maximum temperature is very likely to be more than 40 degree Celsius and is likely to be above normal by 3 to 5 degree at many places in interior Odisha and likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degree at a few places of coastal Odisha during next 3 days.
However, the maximum temperature is likely to fall under the impact of Nor’wester on May 1 and 2, the IMD stated earlier.
