Paralakhemundi: As many as 26 school teachers were among those who tested positive for COVID-19 in Gajapati district on Saturday, a day after the schools reopened across Odisha.
Chief District Medical Officer Pradip Kumar Patra told the media that as per the government guidelines, the district administration carried out COVID-19 test of the teachers and other staff of schools across the district before the reopening.
Patra said 17 teachers tested positive in Mohana block and 14 others in the District Headquarters Hospital at Paralakhemundi.
It may be noted that the state government allowed the schools to reopen for the students of Classes X and XII from Friday. All the schools across the state had remained closed due to COVID-19 pandemic since March last year.
