26500 Cough Syrup Bottles Seized, 4 Arrested In Twin Cities

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police seized 26,500 cough syrup bottles and arrested four persons in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The accused persons have been identified as SK Azharudhin, Vicky, Kuna and Ajay Agarwal. All of them belong to Cuttack.

According to sources, the police seized 26,500 bottles of cough syrup, each containing 100 ml syrup and 200 mg of codeine, a narcotic drug. Three scooters and one mobile phone were also seized from their possession.

On being informed that a boy is coming from Cuttack to supply cough syrup in Bhubaneswar in the Kalpana area, Badagada police conducted a raid and arrested Azharudhin and seized 320 bottles from him.

During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and gave a lead to the police. Based on the information, police conducted a raid at Nandisahi in Cuttack and arrested three others and seized the rest of the bottles from them.

All the arrested persons were forwarded to court on Tuesday.
