Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police have slapped fines and sealed 41 shops in Bhubaneswar in the last 24 hours for violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash in a twitter post said that taking note of the alarming rise in COVID-19 positive cases in the city, the fines have been collected from the people for not wearing the masks and not following social distancing norm.
He said that to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the city, the special drive will continue.
Referring to the special enforcement drive in Cuttack, DCP Pratik Singh said that three shops have been sealed, while fines have been collected from 1186 persons for gross violation of social distancing norms and 269 were penalised for not wearing a mask.
Following the instruction by the Chief Minister, the Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay had directed the twin city Commissionerate Police to initiate stern action against the violators in both the cities.
