29 Tribals Girls Of Sevashram High School Rescued From Gajapati Forest
Paralakhemundi: A total of 29 tribals girls of Antarba sevashram high school under Mohana block in Odisha’s Gajapati district were rescued by police on Sunday night.
They had allegedly left the hostel the previous night.
According to sources, police rescued them from a forest near Tankilipada village in Chandragiri block after tracking a mobile phone of one of the girls.
They are being currently kept at girls’ high school at Chandragiri.
The District Education Officer (DEO) said that efforts are on to know as to why the girl students left the hostel. On the basis of their statement, appropriate action will be taken, the DEO added.
After these girls left their hostels, their parents and guardians had come to the sevashram on Sunday alleging that their wards are yet to reach their house.
Following the incident, Gajapati collector Anup Saha directed the police to conduct a search operation to trace the missing girls.
