Udhampur: At least three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and 15 others injured after a vehicle carrying them fell into a nallah in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, according to a report by PTI. The accident occurred when the CRPF vehicle was travelling in the region and suddenly veered off the road into the water channel.
Emergency response teams launched a rescue operation, and the injured personnel were quickly evacuated to nearby medical facilities for treatment. The incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by security forces in the region, not just from hostile engagements, but also from challenging terrain and hazardous roads.
Officials have initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident, while authorities expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to the injured. The cause of the crash—whether due to mechanical failure, driver error, or road conditions—is yet to be determined.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Udhampur MP Jitendra Singh called the news “disturbing” and said he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Saloni Rai, who was personally monitoring the situation.
