New Delhi: After a gap of two years, the three-day Odisha Parba, featuring music, dance, and theatre traditions from the state, will begin at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from Friday (March 24).
The three days will celebrate Odia ‘Asmita’ (identity), Swabhiman (self-respect) and Swabhalamban (self reliance). Historical play ‘Ahe Nilashaila’ will be staged on the inaugural evening from 7.45 pm. The 2.45 hours play depicts how the then Gajapati king Ramchandra Deva had to undergo untold miseries for protecting Lord Jagannath from the evil eyes of Naib Nazim.
The second day will see an array of performances celebrating classical and other folk forms from Odisha, including ‘Chitra-Vitānam’ by Guru Ratikant Mohapatra and disciples, Adi Badya ‘Swarara Murchhna’, folk instruments and tribal dance, ‘Tikita Kita’ by Saswat Joshi and troupe and ‘Atulya Parampara’, a musical presentation by Mantu Churia and group.
The event being organised by the Odia Samaj will conclude on Sunday with ‘Chira Namasya Parambrahma, an Odissi dance performance by Saswat Joshi and group, Mahanadi ‘Odisha & Culture’ by Rabiratan Sahu and group, Swarjya Gatha ‘Ananya Odisha’, a fusion of Chhau and Paika dance by Guru Aniruddha and team, ‘Swara O Spandana’, a musical show by Ananya Sritam Nanda of Indian Idol Junior 2 fame, and ‘Tala Badya’ by Sandeep Mohanty.
Apart from these, Sankha Dhwani and Ranapa dance, Oram dance, animal mask dance, Sahijat and Ghoda Nacha, western Odisha folk dance, martial art and Paika Nacha and Danda Nrutya will be performed by eminent artistes from Odisha.
The visitors will also get to taste authentic tangy spicy flavoured Odia cuisine and street foods.
