3 Days After Mumbai Mishap, Another Hoarding Collapses In Maharashtra [Watch]

Mumbai: Three days after a billboard collapsed in Mumbai, killing 16 people and injuring over 40 others, another hoarding came crashing down in Maharashtra on Thursday.

This time, it happened at Pimpri-Chinchwad, near Pune, as strong winds lashed the city. The huge hoarding fell on a tempo, a car and a few two-wheelers.

Fortunately, there are no reports of any serious injuries from the incident which occurred around 4.30 pm in the city’s Moshi area.

Videos showed officials from the Fire department, police and the civic body trying to clear the area of debris.

The hoarding collapsed on a tempo, a car and a couple of two-wheelers, but there have been no casualties and no one has been injured. The tempo which was trapped under the hoarding has been freed and gas-cutting is being done to remove the billboard,” said Manoj Lonkar, Fire Officer in-charge of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

In April 2023, a hoarding had collapsed on a service road in Pimpri Chinchwad, killing five people who had taken shelter under the billboard amid strong winds.

The civic body had sought structural stability certificates from billboard owners following that accident, but many haven’t submitted them for this year.
