Jagatsinghpur: Police along with a dog squad on Thursday began an investigation to trace the culprits, who allegedly looted money from a donation box at Maa Sarala Temple in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district the previous night.
Three persons have been detained for questioning on basis of CCTV cameras installed at the temple and the cutter used for breaking open the box has also been seized.
According to sources, som portions of the boundary wall of temple were demolished for beautification work under the 5T initiative of the state government. The miscreants took advantage of the situation and carried out the loot between 1 am and 2 am.
It is being suspected that 30 per cent of total money collected in the box has been stolen.
