Baripada: Three people were killed in a series of accidents involving one truck under Tiring police limits at Rairangpur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district late on Wednesday.
According to sources, a man and his nephew were mowed down by an iron ore-laden truck while they were standing on the road near their house last night after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The young boy died on the spot and his uncle was declared dead at the hospital.
A biker was the next casualty as the vehicle hit him a few metres away from the first accident spot.
Police have seized the truck and detained the driver. Further investigation is on.
Meanwhile, rate locals blocked the road, alleging that rash driving led to the accident. They are demanding measures to prevent careless driving on the stretch, which reports accidents almost every day and compensation for the families of the deceased.
