3 Held For Charging Money For Subhadra Yojana Application Form In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested three persons for allegedly charging money for application forms and registration under Subhadra Yojana, the flagship scheme of Mohan Majhi government for empowering women, in Odisha capital.

The accused have been identified as Sasmita Jena and her husband Ranjit Jena, who ran a Jana Seva Kendra at Chandrasekharpur, and Ratikanta Sahu, an employee of a Jana Seva Kendra at Kharvela Nagar.

According to police sources, Sasmita and Ranjit allegedly demanded Rs 200 from each applicant for the application forms. They were arrested by Chandrasekhapur police following a tip-off and forwarded to court. “They have been booked under Sections 31(A), 296, 132, and 3(5) of BNS,” Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told the media

Ratikanta was arrested for allegedly selling Subhadra Yojana forms without proper authorisation and demanding money for the same, he said, adding a case has registered under 318 of BNS.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also hold Women and Child Development portfolio, had earlier asked people to lodge complaints by calling the helpline number (14678) if anyone asks for money at any stage of the Subhadra application process.
