Berhampur: Three persons were injured when a vehicle, carrying around 25 picnickers, crashed into a stationary truck on Taptapani Ghat road in Odisha’s Ganjam district in the early hours of Sunday.
According to sources, the mishap took place near Palukhola village under Patapur police limits around 5.30 am when the
tempo traveller in which they were en route to Taptapani and Jiranga Monastery from Bhubaneswar for a picnic rammed into a truck loaded with iron rods as heavy fog reduced visibility on the road. Two passengers and the driver sustained serious injuries under the impact of the crash and were admitted to a health facility at Digapahandi.
Sources further stated that the truck was parked along the road for last 3-4 days due to a mechanical failure without proper reflective markers.
Meanwhile, Patapur police have launched a probe to determine the cause of the accident., which comes almost a week after a cashew-laden truck overturned onto a car, partially crushing it and trapping the driver inside, on Taptapani Ghat.
